Has any one else with a 2.8d hilux installed a aftermarket water temp gauge?
Where did you put the sensor? (any pics)
I was thinking on removing my thermostat housing and next to the factory temp sensor there is another spot that looks like it could be drilled and tapped out to suit the fittings.
The only drama is the new probe has a 3/8 BSP fitting and i believe there might not be enough alloy left around the outside edge of the hole..
Any ideas on where i can plug the gauge onto?
Brad

buy one of the alloy mounting tube/blocks that have the hole drilled and tapped in them. they go inline on ur upper rad hose, just cut the hose and clamp the tube inbetween the two ends. got one yesterday was $30ish at autobarn.

I was also thinking of doing this; if no one replied with a better option.Rory wrote:buy one of the alloy mounting tube/blocks that have the hole drilled and tapped in them. they go inline on ur upper rad hose, just cut the hose and clamp the tube inbetween the two ends. got one yesterday was $30ish at autobarn.

Yeh i think i might get a piece of stainless pipe, drill a hole in the side and tig a stainless 3/8 BSP socket onto the side of it...
That would be easier than drilling and tapping my thermostat housing...
Cheers Brad
