Stumped....
Stumped....
hi all, at the moment i have small problem with my 95 sierra, when on flat hard ground like concrete in shed or bitchumen if i let the clutch out in low 4 NOT in gear it creeps forward, the problem is there in 4 high and 2 you can feel it trying but it only moves in low 4 because of the gearing i am guessing.
it has me stuffed because if the gearbox is in neutral how is it still trying to drive forward...... extreem exhaust propulsion? lol
cheers

with the car in neutral the shafts can still spin slightly, this is turn can make the car creep forward a little. known many a zook to do it but its never been a problem.

joeblow wrote:not realy. without seeing it its just guesswork. to break a piston you must engage the diff while both wheels are doing different speeds, even then there has to be alot of force. if its not the above than it will be an install problem.
Have you had the gearbox overhauled rescently at all? I had mine done and it was very very tight, in neutral it would creep. Im thinking a bearing wasnt pressed on all the way home on the main shaft, binding the synchos up or something.
What oil are use using in your box?

Ive always had that problemand didnt know what it was until there was a thread on here recently that talked about oils and when its cold it thickens and with the shafts spinning inside the gearbox it "creeps" forward.
The other morning it was bloody cold (jumper, jacket, beanie, gloves is the heater on!!) and I drove my zuk a few metres down the driveway in neutral.
So dont worry its normal for it to do it when its cold.

Exact same thing happened to me. I have 4.9 T/C gears. I always park my car in 1st Low because the handbrake is crap. I've done allot of late nights at work lately and at about 2am when I finish (Its freezing cold) the car moves forward when in neutral low.McGyver wrote:no gearbox work, i did upgrade my clutch resently, but only started noticing the creeping after the crawler gears went in. cant remember the oil used sorry.
Its just happening because the oil in the gearbox is slowly turning the gearbox output, and because the transfer gears are quite low now it can actually move the car. Since my handbrake is crap it overcome this and moves the car (only a little though before the handbrake catches up).
Just be aware it does it, and dont let the clucth out in Low unless you want to move.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
