What sort of 4x4 should be at Tuff Truck

What sort of 4x4 should be at Tuff Truck
What are peoples opinions on the type of truck. Should it stay to street legal vechiles (well almost street legal) or should buggies be included. Should there be a limit on tyre size or should it go by percentage above MRFT.
What are your thoughts.

I like the idea of all trucks being registered but the problem is that drivers that live in say Queensland have to comply with different transport regulations than someone in say NSW. eg. If I lived in NSW I could have a spoa but because I live in Queensland I can’t have a spoa so I am therefore at a disadvantage. Please note the spoa is just an example.

Provided that all the safety requirements are followed,Allow everything from Zooks to the full tube buggys.
Thats what the spectators pay there money to see,not just road rego'd rigs.
And as they say it's called TUFF TRUCK for a reason, to find The tuffest in OZ.

I would like to see TUFF TRUCK be open to ALL types!
From fully engineered to PURPOSE built tube buggies!
I would love to see something like the Mogrover, Ballsac's rig or Dobbins truck up against a USA style light weight BUGGY!
Also for a COMPETITOR a fully built tube buggy offers 100 times more protection in a serious rollover than a hilux cab or suzuki cab!
I don't think there needs to be a limit or restristion on tyre size, you just need to build the course's so there is no major advantage in running huge tyres, eg Get rid of the Small pebbly crappy rocks and just have huge ROCK FACES!!!!
Also no point in having someone penalised for having a bigger truck or more h/power etc etc as we want to see WHO has the TUFFEST TRUCK, if something is not good enough to keep up with the pack than it obviously isn't TUFF ENOUGH!!!!!
Also More and more people are realising that it is cheaper and MORE FUN to build a buggy than it is to build up a registered rig. Meaning that there will be more and more need for Unregistered comps!!!

Although I can appreciate the view to let absolutely anything compete to find the true tuffest. Its just that I think that tuff truck should be something different from what it looks like the rockcrawling comps are going to turn into (I think our rockcrawling will develop the same way as the US) and this isnt a place for rigs that are road based IMO.

How many times has this crap come up on Snake, OuterL etc. It is never going to get defined except against the rules of the current competition.

Alot of it comes down to insurance and road registerd vehicles sounds alot more promisinf to an insurance company than outlaw or anything goes. I like the idea that they are road registered. I think the vehicle should be capable of doing all the events, looks good and can be driven on the roads. I reckon leave the outlaw stuff to the Willowglens and the rock crawling events

Agreed, But I think it will take longer for our rock crawling comps to get to the same point as the usa comps took to get to where they are now. Modified and Outlaw.
Modified being a car that is built on a chassis and body that was for sale in australia, modifications should be unlimited.
Outlaw being a complete custom chassis. but can have traits of a factory car, much like Overkills purple beast, resembles a sierra, but its not.
That way we have the best of both worlds, the truly modified, and the truly outrageous .
Id pay for that

So Strange Rover's mogrover would be in modified whilst his lockless would be in outlaw. Doesn't seem entirely fair. We don't have enough buggies yet IMHO.

i think it should be everyone competes together, registration cant just fly out the window, like who would be proud to say they won tuff truck in modified class? if they won that they should be wheeling with the 'big boys'. everyone knows it aint just the car but the car and the driver, some guy may have a car that is able to enter outlaw class but would get its ass wiped in comp by a 'modified' class competor due to they suck and cant drive get my point everyone should compete together in a comp like this it is after all one of the biggest events on the 4x4 calender

Thats the whole idea of competition isn't it? If you or your car suck, you loose! If your a bad driver in a good car, then you got to fix your driving skills. Good driver in a shitbox, then u got to fix the car.
Racing (loose term, i know) betters the breed. If you suck and loose, its your own fault!

Should have a registered tuff truck competition and a non registered open class tuff truck competition.
