1 hz and 1hdt

Post by simkell »

out of stupid curiosity is it possible to put a ihdt head on a 1hz? i know that if it is possible that pistons would need to be changed, but would injectors and injection pump need changing or alterations to the pump required.

i know it would be easier to put a 1hdt in, but i am just curious.

Slugs go with the head, rods go with the slugs, pump gos with the injecters, so yes you can but the only 1hz things left would be block and crank and front timing gears :)

sooooo what's a head worth?, if rebuilding a 1hz that needs the pump also rebuilt it may be worth doing? maybe/

Interesting... As Toyota only list the one part number for the crankshaft for both, and piston squirters for the 1HZ too for that matter.

You will need injecter lines, injecters, turbo and manifolds etc best to buy a big ended hdt and use your goof bits...i know a guy with a bare head needs new valve seats. He is in wollongong

You will need the following 1hdt parts to convert a 1hz to a 1hdt.

Head complete with injectors, cam etc.
Pistons & gudgeon pins (32mm pins)
Con rods (1hdt small end is 32mm, 1hz is 30mm)
Injector pump & all injector lines.

As for the block, the only diff is the 1hdt has a oil pressure feed gallery for the turbo on the RH side of the block & turbo oil return on RH side of the main bearing block assembly. Can get around this by picking off oil pressure from the oil pressure switch oil gallery & oil return to the sump for the turbo. 1hz block has piston oil sqirters.

Crankshaft is identical.

Will need a turbo of course.
