Post by Rough60 »

Hi all,
yesterday was fine, but today the glow plugs seem to be swithing on then straight off and not heating up, was thinking relay, or should I be looking somewhere else?
Thanks.

get a multi meter and test how long the voltage goes through to the plugs. I had one years ago where the new timer was so expensive I bypassed it to an switch and used to turn it on for a count of five or eight on cold mornings then turn off again and it started every time.

did this with the 40. momentary switch from superheap and a few wires. i count to 9-10 on cold mornings and at it starts first crank every time. google ih8mud wilson switch , wiring should be similar for 2h.

Tested with multimeter and no voltage going to the plugs, checked and replaced under dash fuse, still no good.
Is there an inline fuse or does relay sound stuffed?
Also is the relay the one closest to the firewall on the right inner guard, directly behind the air cleaner (pretty big black one)?
Thanks guys.

Check the relay and it is clicking but not power is going to the plugs.
What to check next?
Thanks.

Just tested the relay and power is running to the relay out when the ignition is turned to on but not to the plugs.
And continuity exists from power out on the relay to the glow plugs when power was off.
I'm a bit stumped, any ideas?
Thanks.
