Removing swivel hub housing from axel tube

Post by Davidh »

Hey guys,

Can I simply remove the brake caliper, then unbolt the swivel housing from the axel tube and slide off the whole assembly from the inner axle?
Or is the inner axle circliped to the front of the cv?
I intend to change the swivel housing ball seal without dismantling the whole hub assembly. Is this possible?

Oh yeah, 91 Disco, 10 spline unit with the little stub axles!

Yep, that is the easiest way. The inner shaft is circlipped to the CV so it will come with the assembly, but that is fine. It is heavy when done this way, so be prepared for the weight.

Ouch, 10 spline. Just don't look at the diff splines when it is out :)
