Hey there i come seeking some mitsu wisdom.
a mates old man has a 99 challenger v6.
the transfer case cracked and resulted in a blown gearbox and transfer i believe.
he got repairs done i believe he got a 2nd hand gearbox etc and got it reco'd. i heard the figure of 7grand mentioned and almost poo'd.
its been about 6 months and the same crack has appeared in the housing of the transfer.
is this a common problem with these vehicles or is it more a case of, your car has issues champ?
any help on this appreciated from those in the know.
cheers
Twon

Yep agreed this is very rare indeed.
It is happening to some Gen 3 auto's as the t/case hangs way out and is exposed but this is due to impact damage.
The Challenger and earlier Jabbers have a decent bash plate there instead.
Can you tell us exactly where the cracks happened - extension housing ?
And yes the t/case and 5sp are connected but the oil supplies are sealed within each unit.
