3rd battery in 80 series
Has anyone stuck a 3rd batt. in a 80 wagon. I am setting up to do a fue months in the bush and i will have 2 engels. One as a freezer. Both are 40l fridges. Has anyone done this? Any ideas would be great
80 series To travel and GQ to play
i have done it
i have done 3 batt in my boat 4 now
you need to i find space in ya rig for that extra batt and altnator ect
3 will charge of one alt, but the alt wont last long mine lasted 50hrs like that from new to many amps you need two alts or a good solar set up 160watts with 2 good batt on a good system should work well

Easiest way is to stick it in the back cargo area (sealed battery in a safe/proper cradle) and then run minimum 6 B&S twin with a 50a fuse/circuit breaker at both ends of the cable.
Assuming you have a dual battery system, this will in effect turn the two batteries into 'one',ideally they should be the same battery; ie same ah/hr rating and construction, but its not imperitave.
Pirahna also make a tray that sits up near the firewall on the passenger side to suit the 3FE motor i believe, but would only fit a smaller battery, probably n50 or smaller
The question begs, do you really need 3 batteries? do the sums and work out if you can live of 50ah (assuming a 100ah AGM/Gel battery which can happily supply 50% of its capacity without damage).
More details of your current setup may assist.
