getting your keys from a hilux

Post by big_fyt »

ok so last night i felt like a dickhead locking my keys in my car first time i have ever done it so i had problems getting them out.

i have to thank neigel from tassy for telling me to bend 1 butter knife 90' and another 1 stay straight.

slide the 90' under the seal of your quarter panel window this knife will pull your button on the latch.

the next knife put on the vertical seal of the quarter panel and try and lock it in behind the lever, slide across and you are into your hilux get a little person like your mrs to get their arm in to either grab keys/ open lock or winde down the window.

i hope this helps somebody in the future when i get a chance i might chuck a photo up cause this was pretty easy for me and worked first try and might save the next person half an hour. i know there are other ways but this is pretty simple and easy to do providing you are at home or have access to butter knifes or similar thin metal.

It's scary how easy it is to get through those 1/4 windows. Using butter knives is a good idea - I'm usually going at it with my antenna whip and a coathanger

with a flat screwdriver you can pry the rubber from the corner of the 1/4 glass (it only really sits in there) and then with a coat hanger you can hook the keys and pull them out, have done it a few times. Fitted remote central locking now to prevent it from happening

gimmie a foot of packing tape and i can be in my hilux or any of my mates 4wds in under 20 secs. i know a bloke that used to work for a caryard and could get into most cars in about 5 secs, saw him get in one in less that 2 secs... scary

butter knife bugger that use a fork bend the two outer prongs in opposite directions against the fork then stick the two left over prongs in the lock give it a jiggle and a turn and hey presto. i lost my keys for a week. work on the door and the ignition. after a couple of days you dont seem to know any different until the cops grab you and start asking why your breaking into a car with a fork

now you got you keys out, its not a bad idea to get one cut and zip tie it up under the car some where, i have a nasty habbit of locking keys in the lux and this gets me out of trouble every time.

yeah but when he zip ties it under the car and the keys are locked in the car and the toolbox with the side cutters/ stanley knife is in there to what does he do then. but it is a good way to get in if you have quater glass. was amazed the first time i seen it done. its only the dishonest people that will break in to it any way.

you dont need cutters or stanley knife to cut the cable ties, you just twist the key around and they break, you only need a 3mm wide cable tie.
