80 landcruiser auto a440f

Post by simkell »

I have a 80 series with a 3fe and the A440F auto tranny. What I want to do is pull the 3FE out and replace it with a turboed 1HZ. What I was wondering was,

1. Is the bellhousing the same between petrol and diesel variants?

2. Can a bellhousing from say a 1HDT be used instead, also the flex plate from the 1HDT.

I know that the torque converters are different, and that there is slight valving differences between the diesel and petrol auto's but can I mate up a 1HZ to the A440f transmission?

any help would be much appreciated.

m8 the t/d 80 had the manual a442 aswell prnd321 no economy button and no overdrive button. the torque converter stalls alot lower than the 3fe, so u need one of them and a bellhousing, otherwise, go for it.

If you get stuck I've got a marks adapter kit (and spare auto) to bolt up a Holden 5L to a A440F that I want to sell. ;)
