arb wirering problem

hi,ive had my lockers for just over 4 years now with no problems at all.then the other night while going to my club meeting the switches glowed extra bright when i turned my lights on and the compreser is only going at half speed if that and is very quite compered to normal every thing is working just all mucked up,any idears would be great ,thanks mike.

the truck is 24 volt so is the compressor

This is very hard to diagnose on that info but it sounds like MAYBE you could start by looking at the switch.

Swap an el cheapo switch in or just make a temporary connection with a wire and see if the compressor then works normally. Just an idea, it is definitely not the only possible issue.

thanks i will try that,all 3 switches get so hot you cant touch them for very long and very very bright compared to usual

Actually if there are three switches and they are all doing the same thing, it kind of makes it seem like it wouldn't be the switches.

yeah thats what i thought to but thanks ,im going to get an auto sparky to ave a quick look at it just doesnt make sence that one day fine next day everything all messed up

you haven't changed the switch's lately have you and been given 12 volt switch's

no every thing is still the same as when it was installed 4 years ago think it mite have blowen something in the wirering some how if i get time today i'll get a sparky to run a test

I dont have an arb compressor or anything, but is it possible the ground on the compressor is broke, and its now grounding back through the lights on the switches. Would account for the loss in power of compressor, having to complete the circuit through a higher resistance path? Having said that I have no idea how ARB wire their switches.

yahoo problem solved had a new battery put in and the earth wire and the negative wire got swapped around by mistake everything back to normal now...[the earth and neg wires for the arb that is] many thanks to all that replyed ,cheers mike.
