apologies for non-4WD related posting.
friend has a 1999 TH magna 3.5 V6 which has slipped a timing belt. the question is, is this an interference engine? it still turns over on the starter and makes no bad noises. when it gave up, there were no bad noises, clunks or bangs, it just stopped. I think it is a 6G74 engine, not 100% sure.
second question, are these engines available as a low km jap import? he has been quoted $5000 - $6000 for a replacement reconditioned engine. understandably he feels that this may be excessive.
any insights welcome. thanks.

Magna V6

3.5 V6 is the 6G74, and is (AFAIK) an interference engine. However, I don't know how many teeth can be jumped before problems begin.
Not sure about the Jap import question - I thought the Magna V6 engines were built at Lonsdale (in Adelaide.)
$5k - $6k sounds expensive; I'm fairly certain the Paj version is significantly cheaper ($3k - $4k), and Paj owners have made the Magna V6 fit the Pajero, so it should go the other way too. About everything other than the short motor needs to be swapped, but it's possible.
