Toyota Dyna Questions

Post by whiteknight »

I just bought myself a 1978 Dyna (no its not a type its 1978). it has the 5R 2.0litre petrol motor and a 5 spd gearbox running a PTO tipper.

I want to swap the motor over as its painfully slow when its loaded but need to keep the gearbox and PTO for the tipper. Whats the easiest/cheapest "best bang for buck" engine swap. I dont want a race truck I just want to be able to sit on 100km/hr.

A 13bt (3ltr TD from a dyna or coaster)would be the pick u need to see if u can find a suitable bellhousing and also maybe put some different ratio diffs in

would use very little fuel and be well suited as it is a simple engine and a truck engine

otherwise a 3rz if you want to keep it petrol and cheap

a holden straight six is the worst idea u would need to have a 44 in the tipper to keep the fuel up to it
