www.cseoffroad.com was good when I used them.

Safety thimble option is ugly, but works well.

I use Supermax in 12mm, I think it was around $500 for 40 metres..

x2 on the safety thimble, heaps easier to connect shackles to it. And it wont crush like the other thimbles..

Why not use some of Tigerz?

The price is right and it's heavy enough.

Instead of using the thimble on the drum side just get the supplier to put a loop on it then you can loop it onto the drum and will never unwind it of the drum. Using stick on grip paper will stop the rope from slipping and you can use the full length of rope to winch. :D And yes tried and tested. ;)

Any more info on the grip paper?
I assume you don't mean sandpaper type stuff for stairs.

Thanx

Yep thats it. You only need a little to cover where your first loop is.

Anywhere I can find a how-to on splicing rope? As I just got some and it has the thimble on the end.

Do you wrap the whole circumference of the drum as well as the length?

Would like to do all this before I put my winch together.

cheers
