hey crew .

I was just wondering if any1 had the same prob as i do .I own a 03 patrol 4.2 turbo diesel ute .When im drivig there is a faint clicking noise that gets louder the faster i go ,it sounds as if its coming from behind the speedo area .I have 2 other mates with the same car and theres dont do it .plz help

It might be the jigger that controls your speedo or tacho needle. Given that it is all electronic, there aren't any cables there to make a noise.

Could alos be a rock/nail/screw in one of your tyres.

Can you tell if it's matched to engine speed vs road speed? Might help narrow it down.

its not the zip tie trick :lol: ,its not a stone in the tyre .it sounds like its from the tacho or something .i was just wondering if anyone else with a patrol has had this same problem .

As an elimination, pull the rear shaft out and go for a short drive in 4x4.
Will eliminate tailshaft and possibly diff (no torque)

Also try rolling down a hill....

>clutch out, in gear
>clutch in, in gear
>clutch in, out of gear
>clutch out, out of gear

Try a couple of different gears too, get it to the rev range where it clicks etc.

I have a clicking noise but its only on take off. It then does it when I reverse. But again, only on take off. Cant help with your problem

Had the same symptons in '99 GU....twas the auto lock hubs!
