hi guys ive just replaced the rear diif pinion seal and the bearing needs replacing as there is to much move menment causeing the seal to were out.
anyway who can tell how do i get the bearing out the manual says use a puller but i cant get anything i havbe in there to get a grip what do other people use or should i just drop the diff centre and do both. thanks chris and anyother tips on dong this would be great

ok guys im going to pull it out and replace the bearing on the weekend. ive heard about puting in solid shims instead of the colapsable spacer what are other peoples opions and and trick people could let me in on about doing it. thanks chris

a word to the wise: if you're not set up for diff work and don't have any experience with them, pay someone else to do it. it's easy to get wrong and frusatrating and very time consuming if you don't have the right gear (pullers, press, dial gauge, torque wrench, bearing blue, side adjust nut pin wrench etc) - an overhaul will cost about $300 - $400 including bearings, seal and labour, and you get a warranty, if you do it yourself and muck it up you only get to pay someone later to fix it for you.
imho it is one of the few jobs that it just doesn't pay to do yourself.

if only I would listen to my own advice... I am doing some plumbing for a temporary bathroom and I'm in way over my head... who would have thought those tinly little copper pipes could have so many leaks when you turn the water back on!
