Replacing diff gears

Replacing diff gears
Hi all, will 4.875 or 4.9 rear diff gears fit into my 3.5L diff ctr with 4.636ratio.
I'm looking at a SAS using a Hilux axle which, so I'm told don't do 4.6 gears

Yep, thats all good!
We never got them new either but the NZ market got flooded with Pajeros a few years ago. Does give good access to the vehicles though. The only SWB sold here were the 2.5 and the od 3.0 right up until well after the new motors were available.

NJV6, when changing to 4.9 gears in the 3.5l diffs, did you replace the whole diff head, or is it possible to just replace the crown and pinion?
Reason I ask is that there is a quite weill setup '94 SWB I'm thinking about aquiring. It has an ARB locker in the front and a mitsi in the rear running 33"s It has the 4.636 unfortunately, and I wouldn't want to have to ditch the ARB.
Also, how hard is it to obtain the parts???
Cheers,
Paul

Is that the one in Wellington for sale?
The 4.9 gears bolt up to the 4.636 centre.
Note, the 3.5 4.9 diff is different to the 3.0 4.88 diff.
4.9's are easy enough to find.

It sure is. Do you have any insider knowledge?
I've been looking at putting a winch and dual batteries in, plus rock sliders. Furthermore, my poor 12-valve just doesn't breathe, so the 3.5 would be a nice improvement. So, all I would really need to do is re-gear the diffs, swap over my Aisins and I'm done.
