Swaping instrument clusters / compatability

Post by mrRocky »

Just wondering if i can swap my instrument cluster which has no tacho with one that does and if so what wire do i need to connect up to make the tacho work. am i correct in assuming the other gauges will work with just plugging in the standard plugs on my car.
I have a baleno 1st gen motor with 1 coil only so i realise there is a bit of stuffing round needed.

The 1 coil baleno motor should work with a stock sierra tacho.

Its the twin coil motors that you stuff around with.

The sierra should have wiring for a tacho already in the loom.? Just not in the guages..

You might need to plug into the brown wire that comes out of the loom next to the sierra coil.... that's the tacho signal wire.

As others have said, you should be able to use a standard sierra tacho as its still a 4cyl engine with dizzy.
