Where should this breather connect to?

Post by mike_nofx »

I was underneath the patrol this arvo and have seen a hose hanging down next to the gearbox, it runs up above the gearbox, connects to a steel line and eventually into the engine bay.

It also connects to the front diff, and into the front left guard.

So where exactly should this pictured hose connect to? Im assuming its a gearbox or transfer breather.

Do the diffs require modified breathers? as the front one looks quite good, havent checked out the rear.

First pic is the hose, Second pic is where it connects up to.

Yeah thats definatly the front diff and gearbox breathers, they are pretty good stock, (espcially when you have 7" total extra lift) Running right up into the engine bay. The rear one runs into the rear 1/4 panel.

Couldn't tell you excatly where it goes on the gearbox tho. Get a torch and have a look. :)

by the looks of the hose being on that side of the box i would say its coming from the t/case,there is a fitting beetween the the 4wd shifter an the gearshifter little t peice! ontop of the box could be a prick to get too,
but it runs from the t/case to the g/box then down the side of the box an up the rail an into the engine bay hope this make sense

yeah that looks like the breather that connects the gearbox and transfer. If you look at the transfercase from the back you should be able to see wher it connects - there's a barb coming out of the top of the transfer that it connects to.
