Hey,
Well I've decided to keep my 99 GU Patrol 4.5 Petrol / Gas Auto instead of upgrading to a 4.8L, but my trade off on keeping it was that I want to make it go better, a little more punch.
I had a manual before I got the auto and really noticed the difference.
So it's already of Extractors and a 2.5' sports system on it.
Have many ppl chip'd them or upgraded computer or turbo'd?
I know it will all come down to price, but interested to see what other people have done whilst I do my own research.

6-6.5 km/l compared to about 3.5-4km/l for the 4.5 i would say closer to 3 times the power from a stock motor with a lot more potential with a tune or blower thats for auto. the best bit is you can load them up or do 120 on the highway and the get the same economy. imo the best money spent, i played with turbos and ecus on my gq and was just a waist of money, it was never reliable
