I was following what appeared to be a rodeo dual cab the other day, and when I got past it, I saw what I can only describe as the ugliest piece of motoring Ive ever seen. YUKOLA!!
It looked like a late model rodeo dual cab with the front end that kind of looked like a older barina. Worst approach angle ever.
Id buy a Lada before I bought a Great Wall.

The great wall might not be the best off roader, I highly doubt that ever designed it to be, but it opens up a new market and could potentially pull the ever growing prices of the more common dual cabs back a little.

China is actually making a lot of very good quility products. A lot of engine & vehicle bearings come out of china now. It comes down to qaility control and getting through ADR,s and they have to come with warranties. Ugly but not many utes look good any way.

Chongquing in central China is todays equivelent of Detroit, almost every car manufacturer is building there cars there.
Wont be long and your only option with a new car is Chinese built, maybe they put the badge on in Germany / Japan before shipping out, but there chinese built thats for sure.

They had a quick look at them in a certain 4x4 magazine a few issues ago (great wall that is) and the little diesel engine that comes in them had mitsubish proudly stamped on them. For memories its the 2.5 or whatever it was the paj's came out with. Im sure noone would complain about that but as for departure angles strength of components etc I would be cautious, but comming from china i bet it wont cost much to repair.

Nah its the petrols which are Mitsi units. 2.4L from the last model outlander. And if you are planning to lease one for business purposes, there will be no residual on offer. dont know about the new new ones but one of dads silly(idiot) mate bought one and had the brake pads replaced like 5 times in 20thou km before the smart dealer realised that the disks were as warped as a teenage mind on acid!

One of my neighbours is a Honda & Mazda Dealer. He has just returned from a trip to China & brought back brochures which indicate that the Chinese are doing what the Japanese did when they first sent vehicles to Australia.
They are doing copies of vehicles from other manufacturers with very slight deviations from the Japanese models but with older model motors. He said they have authority to begin sending these vehicles to us despite them having difficulty meeting our Design Rules.
That should lead to some interesting spectating!

I crawled in, out and over one of these at Knox City - everything underneath 'looks' adequate but not exceptional... Cab external quality is equal to any of the dual cabs coming out of Thailand, cab interior shit all over my Triton for quality of finish including softer leather for the steering wheel and gear knobs... Seats were more comfy than any of the Jap dual cabs I've sat in...
I personally wouldn't buy one but the quality is coming up...!!!
