Garrett T04B8 for 4.2?

Post by Buckshot »

After pulling out some marine diesels at work I might be able to get one of the turbo's off em cheap.
After some help in the Nissan tech section I have found out they are Garrett T04B88's.

Would this turbo be ok for a 4.2 diesel motor or are they too big. Inlet housing on one is AR60 the other is AR70. Motors put out 77kw. Not sure of the capacity but they don't look much bigger than the Patrol's motor.

Any help appreciated.

How about an engine model?
A 5.9 should do 77kw easy without a turbo. Some marine 5.9's do 235kw.

Not sure if its exactly the same but my mate was running a to4b diesel turbo on his toyota supra race car. 3 litre petrol engine that revs to 10000 rpm running 20psi and it didnt spool till about 4 grand. he switched to a to4z ball bearing for a quicker spool. I think it would be a bit laggy on a diesel but good if you want really good top end power.
