Trail gear suspension
Hey guys
This topic prob has a few threads going already..
I got a 95 dual cab lux and thinking about putting trailgear 3'' front and rear suspension setup. Would like peoples thoughts on how they handle on road as the hilux is my daily driver.
Few pics of your rigs in action would be good.
Cheers..

Re: Trail gear suspension
prepare for a big argument as this subject is always argued about,
if your made of money n have 5 grand or so to spend go for it,
i persoally would go with
gettin high steer done
get some ifs rears with extended shackles
chuck ur old rear springs up front with extended shackles
measure up so shocks n shock hoops
and the wold is ur oyster
that would be arond the 1 grand mark
hope this helps
cheers

Re: Trail gear suspension
I have the 3" kit in the front and rear of my 85 hilux and find it quite good on road and awesome offroad. Quite expensive but.
Re: Trail gear suspension
is it just the stock ifs rears or do they have to be lifted
Re: Trail gear suspension
stock ifs leaves with 200 mm shackles (i have the plates you can have them for free just pm me) give you 2inch lift ish, rears up front with a slight play gives similar, very cheap, works very well
RUF is rears up front
and yes RUFF (2 f's) is head honcho of this here forum
search it, all the answers are here and are also in the hilux bible

Re: Trail gear suspension
I hate to say it but 1g ain't going to cover ifs ruf and hi steer its more like 2 depending on what shocks you run hi steer is like 800 plus ifs box 200 ish ifs springs 50 to 150 shackles new from bubs 160 per set dropped front hanger 90 shock hoops 140 ish then you will want u bolt flip kits 130 a set and you will have to remount the rear shocks you can buy the parts or make it to suit your needs I think its around the 150 to 200 mark then front tail shaft needs to be longer as do brake lines then that still leaves shocks to buy of course the more 2nd hand parts you get the cheaper it gets just a heads up in the process of doing mine
Re: Trail gear suspension
Appreciate the feedback guys thank-you.
Re: Trail gear suspension
maybe if u buy stuff new
i already had extended brake lines which most people have, and ubolt flip isnt a must, when ever u have spare coin u could get them
for example
steering box and highsteer arms cost me 350
i got cross over steering which the arm was 160 but highsteer is 350 for knuckle arms
bracket from bud 60
superior shackles i picked up for 40 a while back
rear springs u can pick up anywhere maybe like 100
shock hoops 160
shocks 240
$1100, plus install of ur steering box $200- $1310
all about where u look and who u no
its the poor mans trail gear, that works just aswell
or just get air locker front n rear and dont worry about suspension lol

Re: Trail gear suspension
your money get what u want, if u wanna spend big$$ go trailgear, if u wanna get similar results for less go RUF and IFS or falcon rears.

Re: Trail gear suspension
I have 3" IFS eliminator kit in the front of my 4runner and 4" rears with inverted shocks. The TG setup works aweosme offroad and if u buy when the dollar is good, isnt to expensive. The onroad handling is fair, the leafs are very soft so in a straight line they are great on the other hand very boaty on corners but u get that.
If u dont all ready know locktup4x4 are the aussie distributor of TG parts so hav a look on ther site as Chris often has some good prices, very good customer service to.

Re: Trail gear suspension
In short yes highsteer is the way to go if your aiming for decent downtravel in the front end.MUDHOR wrote:Thanks Guys..

Re: Trail gear suspension
probably pretty good still, wasnt a very large thread to dig up so only a small hole. but considering he is talking about saving money he probably saved on the shovel aswell, meaning its a cheap one and only good for one hole, so it might be stuffed.
