I'm lucky enough to find myself in the position of having to choose between these two supplied by work. WHich would you choose mostly for sand, touriing and easy bush work.
I've already discounted the navara D40 as the ones i've seen plough their way through sand and the colorado as it feels sluggish and drives like a whale!
Most likely a diesel auto as well which ever I choose!
Either would suitable. MN's still have a bit of a shortage of aftermarket accessories due to there relatively recent release although it's getting better every day.
Personally i'd take the triton, only because i like the ergonomics better.
As far as an indecent proposal goes, I'd accept nothing less than $100,000 to tolerate buggery. Any less and it's just not worth the psychological trauma.
tritons nice to drive but shit tray size
I like the idea of the 3.0 as opposed to a more highly stressed 2.5
jmo
Ive driven them all but I bought the colorado
enjoy your new car whatever you get
85 high roof 1.3, 6.5 tc, air lockers, ruf and 34 swampers. yep its an ugly pos.
Haha, geez that'd suck! From my experience the Triton would be my pick. The ones ive driven around seem to take a good punishing and keep going with no dramas. IMO mitsu seem to be one of the best built 4wds next to Toyota. The Ranger on the other hand, feels like they go better (iv never actually compared them side by side) but are very thirsty on fuel and the auto just doesnt seem to match with the engine well. Fuel economy wouldnt matter being a work car for you though . BTW i dont own either, iv just driven them quite a few times.
I had a ML triton as my own personal car and have used rangers at work on a regular basis, I perfer the triton in everyway.
I also would rather the 3.2 over the new 2.5 in the MN's, seems a bit weird to go backwards in capacity. Cost cutting i guess?
I have heard of navaras and also rangers with chassis problems like that, I think the chassis in all the new Thailand built utes are a bit under sized.
boner59 wrote:Before you buy a triton look at this one of "rats" on downunder After 26ks I noticed that something did not look right with the back of Ron's truck.
boner59 wrote:Why, he bought it to see Australia,it failed to do, what mitsubishi said it would do.
I'd hazard a guess it was wayyyyy past its GVM + max towing capacity.
mate I am the owner of this car and it has been wieghed 210kgs BELOW GVM and only 112kgs draw bar down load out of 270kgs allowed. The camper only wieghs 1140kgs ,the truck has a 2700kg towing capacity.
Cheers

Good to see you have your bases covered before you go to war with Mitsubishi
I read it wasnt due back home till the 3rd, is this still the case?
Hope it goes well and Mitsubishi or insurance comes to the party.
The triton is probably a better car (and tows 3k) - but I think in D/C they have to be the single ugliest car on the market.
That would have me getting a ranger

Ive driven both on regular days and my pick would be triton. Found Ranger very thirsty on fuel and auto not matched to engine, interior in ranger not as good and the new triton now have constant 4wd on road and factory diff lock as an option
