Shock length

Post by GaryP »

Iv'e had a good search but can't find the info that I need. I am looking to import some Bilstein 7100s from the states and need to know the collapsed and open length of shocks to suit a 2" lift for a GQ patrol.

If you are getting Bilstiens then get German ones, yellow. I tried the 5100 and they couldn't even be revalved due to the way they were assembled, it would have required shortening them. The valving for my JK was so bad I got my money back. Lucky I used an Australian supplier.

7100 series only come in eye-eye mounts and even in the short body series, the shortest compressed length they do is 407mm.

In other words, you can't just bolt them in as part of a 2' lift.
