show me your wheels/rims as im about to go buy some.

On my 1979 FJ45 ute i am going to upgrade the rubber and rims. I know roughly what i want but i do have a frew decisions to make.

The look that i am going for is something like this....

As far as rubber goes i am quite confident i want either Maxis Bighorns or Mickey Thompson baja claw radial. Bighorns being quite alot cheaper so i will most likely head in that direction. If you know another choice than please feel free to give me your recommendations as i will be doing an equal amount of road, sand & mud driving but at no cost do i want to sacrifice any performance on the dirt but will deal with slight road noise to achieve it.

here is the Mickey Thompson claw radial.

and the Maxxis Bighorn radials

As far as rims go im still undecided but i have narrowed it down to a few that have this style with drilled holes. My BIG QUESTION is should i go for a 15 or 16 inch rim as some of these rims are only available in one or the other . I Decided on a 8 inch wide rim as my research tells me a 32inch tall tire will prob fit my cruiser the best but once again if you know something i dont step in.

Its either outlaw 2

baja

if you are going to do 4w disks then go for 16" rims just gives that little bit extra room for calipers.

the only good looking rims you have pictured there is the ones with the claws on them or the steelies . if your only going 15x8 make sure you get the max offset you can (-22 i think )just for more caliper room on the rear and tierod end clearence on the front .

Aussie, these are MT classic locs but im not interested in them as the bead loc is just for show . Im only interested in rims with either no bead loc or at least rims that have a functional loc.

i know what your saying Sideways ..I totally agree. if i was a hardcore rock crawler or something i would certainly not bother with the bling but my 4x4 is just for the bush trails so i can get to my favourite fishing spots. I need to get through a few swamps and creek crossings so i wont be busting up any wheels or undercarriage :)

the wheel and tire combos that i have posted depending on the combinations are roughly between $2000-$2500 here in bris but ill be shopping in the states Where most of these alloy wheels in the pics are between $120-150US so a massive saving. I have a good contact who runs containers so the final price may not be too bad.

Pretty sure you can still get them with out the fake lock rim. They are just called MT Classic and look pretty good.
