I've read that late model 40 series had a collapsible column in them, but I've never seen one myself..

Are you doing an 60 series power steering column? Or just modifing the column to suit the engine?

If doing 60 conversion, easiest is use 55 column to 80 rag joint to 75 shaft (they are colapsable) to steer box. Engineer should have no issues as they are all cruiser parts and bolt together with no mods.
