front demister

front demister
I have a 90 model pathfinder which needed the windsheild replaced. After several attempts by o'brien to find the correct windsheild for my car they finally managed to get the correct size one but it was still the incorrect one for my model. This one came with a front demister and a little cable that popped out of the glass and snuck under my dash. I connected it to the rear demister thinking it may work but i cannot get it to work.
Does the front demister need a seperate circuit or relay or something to make it work? or am i just connecting it wrong?
I connected it to the positive of the read demister switch.
Any ideas?

no ideas mate, all i know is they came out 4 times cos they couldnt figure out which model i have, after me telling them the whole 4 times it was a 90 DX pathy. They guy told me it was from the model above mine but didnt specify which one.
keep in mind tho that mine isnt an import and it originally doesnt come with any front demister, infact i looked over the manual as it covers other series pathy's and theres nothing in there about front demisters

Extension for the arial? in the windsheild?? wtf?
Discos and Range Rovers have those too ususally
use the demister on the rear windscreen as a demister and an aerial.

Ive seen some imported cars that have come in from Japan. We use AM & FM over here but in Japan they use MW (My 96 Navara had the MW frequency on its standered radio) which they use the aerial in the front windscreen to use this frequency.Doesnt work over here unfortunatly cause if they did the outside aerial wouldnt get broken in the bush.
some windscreens use a hotwire to glue them in place, they connect them to a powersupply and it melts the rubber, that was a 79 mazda capella that had one maybe is just that, does it have a termination, is it an insulated wire. if it is a bare wire with no insulation or terminal i susspect it is the hotwire
ok now that i read more and more it seems to be an aerial...lol i cant believe i connected an aerial to my demister! that might explain why its not working.
No the wire seems to be a copper wire coated in something, runs round the bottom of the windsheild and up the middle right up to the top. It stops about 2 inches before it reaches the edge of the windsheild.
oh well better disconnect it now
Thanks for the tips guys

Cant wait till we do some super cold driving and he turns on the radio real loud to de-fog the front windows!!
My Feroza has a special aerial outside the car that makes a forcefield that keeps the whole car defogged... but it's not working right now...
smartass!
somehow i think that this story will be brought up around any campfire we happen to share
