?4Runner Engine Conversion?

Post by shan_250sx »

I have a 94 4Runner RV6 with the 3vze 6cyl in it. I just got it back from the mechanic and now find out that the rings are screwed and it needs a rebuild :? Instead of spending the money on rebuilding it id preffer to put the money towards a more powerful and reliable engine. I was thinking of a commy v6 or the hilux 2.7l. I have a very tight budget but will do most of it myself. It has the R150F gearbox in it and was wondering what bellhousing would i need to fit my gearbox to the 2.7? I also found a 3.8l 4 sale that comes with engine mounts and bellhousing to suit a 93 hilux with a 22r, will this bellhousing suit my gearbox aswell?. Can someone steer me in the right direction please!!! Cheers

Plenty of info on the 3rz, Commy V6, 1uz, and numerous other V8 swaps into Hilux/4runner.
Do a search, or go onto the Surf Forum, they have a whole tech section on engine swaps.
Also, some good info through the members build ups section too.

But all are pretty common swaps done, so they should be heaps of info if you have a look around.
