Side Step Mounting
Side Step Mounting
I am making a set of side steps, out of 3" steel pipe, for a LWB GQ, with a 3" suspension lift and no body lift, and was looking at different designs for mounting them to the chassis, either bolt on or weld on. What I want to know is how have other people done theirs. Photos, descriptions or sketches anything would be appreciated. Thanks.
2008 JK Jeep Wrangler.
buy pipe flanges - 1 per mount. get 10-12mm thick steel about 125 wide and the height of your chassis. mark the steel to suit the pipe flanges. drill and tap out at 10mm or so. weld the plates to the chassis top and bottom ONLY - NOT vertically your chassis may stress crack in due course on cape trips etc. bolt flanges using short bolts, and build tubes from there. too easy
