Thinking about a bigger tank for long trips etc . Was wondering if anyone made a bigger tank to take up the extra room made by a 2 in body lift .
Seems better to move the top of the tank up rather than down .

i have a tank that sitts in the back of a rangie classic inside behind the rear seat or as i did in my patrol get some ply wood get under the thing and make a tank filling all the room and get a sheet metal joint to make you one i got about 60 extra litres by filling the room better and going up the 50mm for the body lift with the tank no futher down than the factory one

I thought you might be able to get another tank from th wreckers , cut it horiziontaly above the seam line , cut your tank 50mm or so up from the seam line weld top of the new one on the base of the old one , get it pressure tested and voila.
Or the after market will build one for $$$.

Sorry it was too long ago. I bought a stainless water tank for one side and a steel fuel tank for the other side.

I have a custom made alluminium tank built to fit a 2" body lift but I can't use it at the moment as there are two LPG tanks in it's place. I have a Long Range Automotive sub tank for petrol that sits behind the drivers side rear wheel and fills via the original fuel tank filler position as well as two custom made alluminium sill tanks with a transfer pump that empties either sill tank A or B back into the sub tank at the rear via a two into one selectable fuel solinoid valve. Best of both worlds heaps of petrol and LPG.

Are you selling the sill tanks and rear sub tank?

My Disco is Dual fuel, It has 2 scuba tanks were the Original petrol tank was and a 45 litre tank for petrol tucked up inside the rear quarter panel near where the fuel filler cap is.
Why couldn't you fit one of those tanks there? and gain an extra 40 litres. Ot get one each side and have a tranfer pump from them?

Just put a 150lt Davis tank in the Disco and it's about 30 kg empty.
let alone putting 2 sill tanks.

Depends on what you do as to whether it needs to be mod plated. Seems many just mod plate stuff that don't need be.
The Light Vehicle Code of Practice January 1994 states "if a replacement tank of a larger capacity employs the OEM mounting system, then installation must be shown by engineering certification to be adequate."
So reading that as it is, mount it differently but use the same space don't need it mod plated saving yourself some dollars.
If in doubt contact the RTA technical services but they are fairly relaxed with modifications if you read things the right way. Just don't use unsound engineering practice and you should be okay.
