This topic seems to come up quite frequently, though more for the 80 series yota's.
My mate did his 80, and to me, the only reason he wanted it was to do doughnuts with the rear locker on!
Works great too! :D

But, most people seem to think you suffer with on road handling, and that the whole thing about fuel consumption is a crock.

One thing is for sure, you would get less wear on your front driveline.

are the most of these conversions done to the more hardcore 4x4's? IMO i love full-time, low range is very usefull, saftey is good. offroading its a simple system, no hubs just a little lever.

When Car manufactures are promoting and developing ALL Wheel Drives systems for more and more cars, you want to go backwards?
Having traction to all 4 wheels is safer on slippery wet bitumen.
Landrover was ahead of time again LOL for others tocopy.

Why would you want to do that? It will drive like crap..

Before you go spend any money, pull the front tail shaft out, lock the centre diff and go for a spin. The front end will feel all loose and sloppy (sloppier) and it will handle badly. For real excitement try it in the wet...

You have to remember, the car was designed to be constant 4x4.

Hahahah.......It was also designed with weak ass diffs.

I believe fitting different diffs and suspension arms changes the design of a car, true ?

Fridgefreezer has one of the kits. He posts on LRE and PBB. I'd suggest asking him any specific questions directly.

This thread is useful.

and this one has pictures of the AVM kit and install.

You really just "need" the bearing for the front output shaft.
