2. Should be allright as long as you align the shafts and joints properly to prevent vibration.
For example, if the drive shaft from the transfer case remains inline with the t/case output shaft (to get past the link cross member), then you can treat the double cardin joint at the centre, just the same as if it was at the t/c output shaft, i.e. point the diff pinion straight at the double cardin joint.
In this example there would be no noticable angle in the joints at the t/case or the diff pinion.
Then the t/case output shaft and 1st drive shaft are allways in phase.
The double cardin joint ensures that the 1st drive shaft is in phase with the 2nd drive shaft.
And the 2nd drive shaft is in phase with the diff pinion.
3. Don't know. I would use a Y-bearing unit - most bearing suppliers have these in pillow block or flanged housings.
