Gearbox Problem? Or weong technique

Post by gogo »

Recently I installed a 5speed bos to replace the old 4 speed. The speed box uses a vacuum switch to engage the 4WD, thus the 4W stick only has 2H and 4L.

After a few days offroad I could not switch into 2H. Only way to do it was to go forward, reverse, turn on turnoff 4WD....and eventually it went into 2H.

Is this normal or what? Or maybe I have the wrong technique.

Sounds like you had 'windup', caused by driving in 4wd on hard (non slip)surfaces.
Luv the sound of a diesel,
especially a Chev 6.2!
Its GONE.........Replaced by a qik HDJ105.

Hi Sixty,

Yes that could have been the case. However, I usually disengage the 4WD on those type of surfaces....maybe I did not do on 1 or occasions!
