hey i was just wonndering if any one knows if a rear tailshaft out of a 4 speed MQ will fit into a 5 speed MQ?

any help would be sweet :lol:

Need to be a bit more specific to which engine.

For the L28 it won't, they are different lengths to accomodate the different length in the gearboxes.

depends....

if its a factory 5 speed put in the patrol.....

then no 4 speed shaft will fit the 5 speed motor.

if the gearbox has been put in and originally was a 4 speed then the shaft depends on the new motor / gearbox combination.

front SWB SD33 5 spd

a rear shaft from a L28 4 speed into a SD33 5 speed

is it possible?

NO the L28 motor is shorter than the diesel... so the diesel gearbox sits further back.

the diesel 5 speed shaft will be alot shorter than a petrol 4 speed rear.
