I can get 6 point roll cages for $1150 plus GST and extra's like barriers etc. supplied only for this price. Works out to be about $1800 fitted and approved with a cargo barrier.

What's your take on being able to make the lower third of the back stays verticle??
We've got an extra-cab which is too short to be able to have those back stays completely straight all the way to the floor, but if we have them at 30 degrees to verticle for the most part, we can just fit it in if the lower 300mm is verticle to the floor.

you cant have a abend in them as in the event of a rol they will offer little or no support as the will just bend at that point. most extra babs will have the rear try with a "rear 4 point half cage" and a 4 point front half cage, on mine when I chop I will pass two conecting peices through the cab to join the two half cages and will effectivly have an 8 point cage. although the rules differ and some allow two full 4 points, OBC next year for eg will require the two cgaes joined so I have being told. it seems silly to me as the 2 4 points un joined will be stronger than a 6 point in a soft top or wagon anywhyGQ TROL wrote:Tiny,

NZ will inevitably follow AU rules, so we intend to build our cage to CCDA specs. We're trying to avoid cutting holes thru the bulkhead of the cab to connect the two 4 point cages together......was just hoping you had a magic solution to our problem, guess not
As the cab is mounted to the chassis via rubber body mounts, and hence allows some movement, I'm not keen on connecting the rigid (chassis mounted) rear 4 point cage to a flexible front 4 point cage....just asking for trouble in my view.

Sounds like a good idea! It won't be enforced in NZ for atleast 12 months I'd say.agree, the option (more work) is to pass the internal cage through the body with room for movement (and high probability of flooding ) and mount internal cage on the chassis, but I reckon leave it as two seperate cages until the rules for the two to be joined are enforced. if you want to be safe, get two clamps (i use tig welded custom 6mm ones) the right lenght of tube with the holes for the clams drilled and a hole saw to the events and then you can do it in 20 minutes if it is enforced
What happens in the event of the body seperating from the chassis (which would be ok cos you're safely enclosed in your cage)?? but the rigid chassis mounted rear cage will have to come along for the ride also?? Can't be a good combo??

I have just come back from talking with Andrew @ On Track. $2400 for a 6 point installed. They are actually made inside the vehicle. After seeing the 6 point, I wouldn't bother with a 4 point. These bars are a work of art.

Another thing you can look at for you extra cab is run a third hoop instead of stays.
