diff lock and 1 axle

Post by bad_religion_au »

ok it'l be acouple of weeks till i can get my spare freewheeling hub and cv, so i was wondering, is there any harm/ will it work, if i transfer my detroit locker to the front, and use my open center in the rear of my 40 so i still have front wheel drive (to the axle that's still there)?

Seems a lot of stuffing around to get a car running for a week or so.

only drama i can see is that if you're doin that so u can go 'wheeling' you'd put more stress on the CV's and may blow up the one thats got all the drive to at the front.

but if you're not wheeling.. then why?

From pirate...
Ive seen to many detroits break when an axle breaks.
Yea detroits are nice till you break a inner shaft up front and you are blessed with a $500 paperwieght that used to be a detroit.
I was a die hard Detroit fan, had them front and rear on my dd/trail vehicle for a few years and loved them. Then I finally broke an inner and it wasted the locker.

100 bucks is too expensive for me, that's the difference between eating and not for a week

the ones on ebay, a mate of mine just bought, so i couldn't grab them from under him

plus i wasn't going to spend a hunge on a cv when i've got a set sitting in melbourne waiting for me.
