2" lift '03 Disco

2" lift '03 Disco
Just wanted to know what everyone recommends, best performing shocks & springs combination that achieves a 2" lift (genuine)
I have airbag rear but have already purchaced 4x4 des. & eng. 50mm block lift kit.
I am in Brisbane, OL told me tough dogs only come in 35mm lift for Disco S2, is this correct? I can get old man emu in 50mm but have heard stories of sag after 6-12 months. I am interested to know the opinion of bilstein shocks & king springs.
If it isn't too much can you give me the part no's of your recommended set-up would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. I want to fit 33" simex ET's on 2nd set of rims.
cheers

Suspension
Hi Brooksy
I have the OME shocks and springs all round which gives me a 2" lift. Don't have part numbers to hand but they are the hardest springs OME do for the disco as I have set it up for touring and camping etc. When loaded up, I am very happy with the ride height as there is minimal sag and the handling on and off road is great too. They do a fantstic job when tackling some hard rutted stuff too. I have had them on nearly 12 months now and they are still performing as they did when I first got them. Only thing I don't like is the round town stiffness when the car is empty, but then everything is a compromise and you should be okay with your rear bags. The harshness has been made slightly better by fitting 265/75r16 BFG muds over the factory issue 255/65 - not sure if you would fit 33" without cutting gaurds etc, but do a search as this has been discussed previously. The muds I have come it at just under 32" (31.7" to be exact on one scale I read) and there is zero rubbing either at full lock or full articulation, but it is very close - I had to grind off the end of a bolt in the rear wheel arch.
I'll e-mail you some pics of my car wihout the mud tyres which will give you an idea of ride height, but look at my Avatar also which shows my rear wheel arch with the muds fitted. I have heard good things about the Bilstein's also but also that they are expensive.
Hope this helps and see you on the tracks sometime.

My Disco 2 also has airbag rear SLS, fitted with 4x4 Design & Eng kit, OME shocks all around and Dobinson springs for the front. This gives 50mm of lift. With 265/75/16 Cooper STTs there is slight rubbing on the front left. I also have a set of 265/75/16 BFG ATs and they rub on the front left as well. As you can see from the photo there isn't much room under the guards.
With SLS, I don't you think you need to worry about the rear end sagging.

The 265/75/16 Coopers are pretty close to 33" aren't they. Do you know the part/no. for the dobinson f/springs. I take it that you used the nitrocharger shocks ?OnPatrol wrote:My Disco 2 also has airbag rear SLS, fitted with 4x4 Design & Eng kit, OME shocks all around and Dobinson springs for the front. 265/75/16 is closer to 32 inches...or 31.6 to be precise. Yes, I have nitrochargers. Call Shane at Wombat 4wd in Ringwood Vic on 03 9870 0699 for the part no's. Shane installed the lift for my Disco, including the CDL.brooksy wrote: The 265/75/16 Coopers are pretty close to 33" aren't they. Do you know the part/no. for the dobinson f/springs. Anyway, springs are cheap and if you have ACE then it doesn't make sense to have stiffer springs at the front.
I drive a modified Patrol as well, and I drive the Disco as hard as I drive the Patrol and it's still going strong.
