Tray Width (Tyre Coverage)

Post by Hybrid »

Anyone know the width the tray needs to be to cover a standard hilux solid axle housing with standard offset rims and 12.5W tyres? I could probably sit down and work it out pretty close but I thought some of you boys that have made sustom trays would have a direct measurement somewhere. I'd be measuring mine off the pizza cutters and coming up with a formula to try to work it out.

Cheers

mines approx 1800 off the top of my head, hides the tyres fine and wide enough to run a decent roll bar off

Mine is 1730 from inside to inside of tubes. I just happened to fluke that measurement and my bogger just fit between them on compression but at ride height they're about 3" past the outside of the tubes. Most standard trays are 1800mm

Look who's got broadband. I don't need to hide boggers just yet. This is just for cutting down the alloy tray for the mean time.

Sorry guys. Lost this thread. Thanks for the replies. Guess I'll go with 1750 - 1800. The tray that was on it hung out a good 150-200 either side. Bloody pig of a thing.

Man I wish you made this thread before I made my tray! Mines 1600mm and is only about 10mm short on either side to clearing the body. Never mind when I make the roll bar it will cover the most part so I'll be fine

bit of a highjack but what is the stock length of the earlier trays before they get attacked by the grinder?
