Any one know if there is any difference in the 440F auto's between the petrol and diesel's?. I'm assuming the torque converter's and possibly the pumps are different but not sure.
I drive an a440F with a 3F and I am looking for a 2h diesel with a440f for an engine swap and the stall speed seems the same to me I was going to use mine as it only has 172K on the car and my donor vehicle has over 400K with out any work or rebuilds (still goes OK though just sloppy shifter linkages)
I was considering calling a torque convertor rebuilder and asking some dumb questions and see if they quote different part numbers???

I am pretty sure the stall is different bacause (a) they look different
(b) the 2h develops less power than the 3f and the torque curve is a different shape
this is not to say that they wont interchange but if you use a diesel covertor behind a petrol motor it may try to work the motor in the wrong part of the torque curve
the pumps are the same, I just changed the bellhouseing and torque convertor on mine

Re: Auto Trans
Mine used to be an auto and by memory when body lifting all that i needed to do was adjust the linkage on the side of the box. the only problem was the transfer lever, it needed some more room for travel. Or better yet heat n bend the lever.reddo17 wrote:Does anybody know wether a 2 inch body lift can be done to a 1986 HJ61 Automatic landcruiser???
