This one has no doubt been mentioned before but the blower fan on my
'96 Sportrak (Feroza) is faulty.
I know all about blowing resistors and have replaced one already (as described in FAQ) but still getting nothing, totally dead.
Is there a relay somewhere that might be shot?
Ideally I'd like to have the blower working properly
any advice is appreciated.
I hope to God it's not a dashboard off job
Cheers,
Jon (England)

Blower fan

Feroza blower fan
Fan is dead on all switch positions.
Some bright spark has previously bypassed with a toggle switch wired from the battery directly into the blower connections thus giving full blast or off, I intend to have the original fan switch working.
I've check the terminals in the switch multi-plug and got some continuity faults, so the 4 position switch is suspect. I'm looking into a replacement from the local Daihatsu dealer.
Also I'm getting no voltage from the corresponding other half of the multi-plug. After looking in the engine bay the fusible link from the battery marked "CDS FAN 30A" is missing. Is this the one that provides juice to the blower? or am I barking up the wrong tree?
So, I'm slowly making progress but as I'm no auto electrician a bit of guidance will help.
Cheers,
Jon

It could be the Heater Relay.
Here's a link to the Body Electrical .pdf manual if you need it. I found some info on page 85 of that download that'll help you with checking your switch.
Page 4 shows where the Heater Relay is.
The "CDS FAN 30A" is for the A.C. relay, I don't know if that goes to the fan switch somehow.
I'd say take the fuse "AM2" from it's slot and put it into the "CDS FAN" slot and see if your blowers work then. The "AM2" (40A) fuse is for your lighting switch so do this just to see if it works.

Thanks for the reply Doug, I already have the full service manual on pdf
and checked the my switch against the continuity table and found faults.
A new unit is £65 from Daihatsu, you have to buy the whole thing
i.e. (hot/cold - fan - air distribution - fresh/recirculated air) as one console,
hopefully the faulty switch is the root of the problem.
Looks like it's dashboard out to fit it though - shit!
I can't find the heater relay at all, it's not where the manual puts it.
All I can see is the fuse box, no relays in either footwell.
Perhaps the '95 onwards UK spec doesn't have one?
Any idea where the live supply to the heater fan is?
Cheers,
Jon.
