MQ rear diff into GQ front
MQ rear diff into GQ front
just wondering if any one has swapped a mq rear diff for a gq front diff or is it just ring gear and pinon that can be swapped over i herd it could be done
isnt the axle spline count different for MQ to GQ???Wendle wrote:you do realise that the standard steering won't work with the low pinion mq centre?
if it is for a custom application, go for it.

That there is very good information to knowGQ wrote:GQ front shares same spline count to the MQScrewy_ScrewBall wrote:isnt the axle spline count different for MQ to GQ???Wendle wrote:you do realise that the standard steering won't work with the low pinion mq centre?

GQ rear is different.

You can just use the ring and pinion because the GQ front is high pinion and the MQ rear is low pinion. The gears wont fit.Bishop wrote:cool thanks guys i wont be running the MQ centre just the ring gear and pinon i blew the rear diff so i changed the ratio to 4.6 and i had the mq with the same ratio so i thought it was worth a try ill let you know

as the spline count on the axels are different i believe, but the CVs seem to be the same size,
front centres are interchangeable as said above with abit of modding with the MQ rear centre.....
But as ive already told you before Ryan, MQ axle/CVs are no where near as wide for a start and wont fit anywhere near close to a GQ housing in length.....
The CVs in the bell themselves, are the same size and will fit in the hub but wont fit that end of the GQ axle and wont fit the GQ hub as the spline is different up that end.......

Other thing to keep in mind with this...MKPatrolGuy wrote:You can just use the ring and pinion because the GQ front is high pinion and the MQ rear is low pinion. I believe the drive shaft bolt pattern and step into the pinion is different... between GQ shafts and MQ shafts, so i reckon youll need a moddified shaft with MQ shaft bolt pattern on the diff end.......

GQ rear is different.
...... wouldnt that mean MQ fits GQ? length i can understand but im talking spline only
as shawn said, GQ front is the same as MQ rear only....Ryan wrote:GQ wrote:GQ front shares same spline count to the MQScrewy_ScrewBall wrote:isnt the axle spline count different for MQ to GQ???Wendle wrote:you do realise that the standard steering won't work with the low pinion mq centre?

GQ front axles are different splines to MQ front axles and both the CV end and the axle/centre end...

...
Just want some clarification...
So the rear R & P from the rear of a MQ will NOT fit onto a GQ front centre..
Other wise that would be good option get a genuine rear and scavange for cheap mq stuff...

Re: ...
This is correct... as the GQ front is high pinion and MQ rear is Low pinion....JemmyBubbles wrote:Just want some clarification...

You can however swap the whole MQ rear centre into the GQ front housing and then do a MQ/GQ knuckle swap to get the tie rod to the front of the diff.
