Apart from the expensive silicone pipe fix, or the aluminium pipe route, would it be possible to put a sturdy spring inside the pipe to keep it from being sucked in. A mate has told me that he has seen it done on other types of pipes, something to do with the radiator I think. If the spring was the right size and made of strong stuff that wouldn't collapse on itself, would this be feasible?
Any thoughts on this theory? I am probably trying to invent the wheel again here, but I havnt really done much under the bonnet before.
