TD5 SII Bush Rangie Build Up (Dial Up Warning) Updated
Ok, a mate is building this and I thought I'd share some build up pics.
Base vehicle is a 2003 TD5 Auto Disco HSE, complete with ACE, SLS etc etc, all being retained.
DII chassis and running gear is being used with Maxi Axels, ARB Lockers F&R, 35" Claws.
Here are the pics.

Was the disco his own wite off or did he score it at an auction. I've been to a few damaged vehicle auctions and not yet seen one land rover let alone a td5 one. I've always had this in the back of my head as a way to convert my v8 disco. Keep us updated though it looks like it will be a quality build.

I think you will find the bar work is built out of black cold drawn pipe, assembled/welded then galvanised.
My Dakar has a similar cage made out of black pipe. This is the way the factory in the UK makes them.
I noticed the cage has changed from the design used in mine and I tend to agree it doesn't look as strong as mine.

Those cages have suvived a 70mph, 20ft high roll over on stockton beach.

I note you have your ECU sanwiched in the side of the vehicle beside the drivers seat.
This area of my DAKAR (built by John Davis) is far from water, or even,weather proof.
I'd be a little concerned for its longevity.
I run my ECU behind the glovebox as that looks about the driest place in a DAKAR. "driest" is a relative word. That means it doesn't flood!
Build quality sure looks good.

Is this being built at the landrover Spares joint in Hervey Bay? I went past on Monday and noticed there was some work going on there and from the pics in this thread it looks like the inside of their workshop. Was almost going to call in and say Hi but didnt want to disturb you guys on Boxing Day. Then when i went past yeasterday the shop was all shut up.
