Air lockers & air tank pressures

Post by Spartacus »

im looking at running a 5litre air tank rated at 120PSI as per instead of a compressor, using servo's air to pump up the tank.

http://www.superiorengineering.com.au/p ... ory=6#1140

Since the ARB Air Locker works between 50 and 85 psi.
does this mean i get one chop at turning the lockers on before i lose the pressure?

i no i have slap on a regulator between the tank and the Air Locker actuating switch to prevent blowout.

cheers

At $200 leave it alone. You can get 16ltr air tanks from kmart for a mere $29.99 they are rated for 125psi.

I run the standard arb air pressure switch in mine i can easily get an least 30 on off's from the locker without the compressor turning back on again.

Hey there

Go to Kelly's Wrecking, the truck wreckers next to the train line at Carseldine, just up from the QUT campus. They sell truck air tanks, for about $30.

Set the pressure at about 100psi max, as apparently the locker solenoids don't like much more pressure than that.

Setting up an on-board air system is dead set easy. Get the bits (pressure switch, relief valve, non-return valve etc.) from Compressor Care in Brendale. Dirt cheap. Dead easy.
