What. Nissan is going to say goodbye to the old TD42? damm, thats a good engine. I was hoping something bigger like a 4.5L Direct Injected Turbo Diesel or a Twin Turbo.
One thing that Nissan better not do is scrap Live Front and Rear Axel all together, thats what makes them a better 4x4 than the Landcruser. You can get the top of the line Nissan with 4.8L engine and all the options with a Live Front End, Toyota's only is IFS.

AA's for Quitters
i find it hard to believe that a company that markets a 180kw thirsty petrol will sink to only a small motor in its line up. the reaility is that they could make a 2.8lt with more kw than a 4.2 with a week or two engine life. engine technology is yet to overcome small displacement long life heavy vehicle towing a 3.5t caravan syndrome. I am sure we will get a yank donk or something.

Dont forget, we are a pretty big soccer mum market too....
Thing is, with more medium-sized soft roaders and mega $$$ luxo vehicles filling the market, the manufacturers have got to wander if the market for big 4x4's will diminish, and maybe the big 4x4's will go back to the roots as specialist work/offroad capable vehicles. Can only hope...

i'd think the patrol (at least in its trayback config) will stay beam axled as long as the toyota 79 cruiser does.bogged wrote:IMHO, you can bet on it going. the majority of new 4b's are now not much more than shopping trolleys.MyGQ wrote:One thing that Nissan better not do is scrap Live Front and Rear Axel all together.
