diff sizes

The GU came out with 2 different diff sizes.
How do you tell the difference between the two?
Also is there any benefits for the big or small diff. I would
imagine the bigger diff is alot stronger...or is it negligible.

i asked for some specs the other day, there is a link in my thread wich i have linked that has some preety good tech on it.

As for knowing which one you have, the small (H233) is about 250 mm diamater pumpkin, the large (H260)is about 300mm

thanks micky,had a quick look and ended up searching on another forum (lack of replies on this one) :cry:
Apparently the smaller diff has studs and nuts holding it together ,
while the larger item has bolts.......anyways :?

so did you figure out which one you have, if not take a pic and we can all have a look. Lack of replies was probably because the differences in these two diffs has been asked about quite frequently in the last few weeks.

In any case, the big one is full floating axle, it is regarded as being stronger but the small one is strong as anyway. Im actually contemplating going to a smaller diff from my large one when i do my coil conversion on the rear of my GU.

Most of the the big diffs are to be found in rear leaf sprung GU utes.

The big diff is probably overkill because the smaller is one of the strongest to be found in a 4x4. The H260 is just extra unsprung weight and reduced ground clearance under the center. Maybe if you're regularly carrying a LOT of weight in a tray back the full floating axles might be necessary....
