Slowing down up hills - get used to it i'd say. Really depends what kionda hills your talking about.
on the open road i can't accelerate up hills...

as for oil pressure, mine (rebuilt 2H) never drops down that low if it's got a few revs on board.

It is best to fit an after market oil pressure and water temperature gauge as the standard gauges usually become inacurate. This will give you a true indication of your oil pressure.

what bigbrowndog said, factory sensors are vague new, and are known to fail and show bad readings later in life.

Did you replace the oil pump gears? if not you could genuinely have low pressure, which was disguised pre-rebuild by the buiuld up of sludge and carbon throughout your engine. I was advised that even if you had perfect oil pressure pre rebuild, you should always replace the oil pump, who wants to do it afterwards!?!?

Also did you rebuild the fuel pump? did you fit new/reco injectors?

Your old pump may not be able to deliver enough pressure to run new injectors effectively which will drop your power incredibly and certainly would presenty itself as gutless up hills. Old pump was capable of running worn injectors as they are far less restrictive when worn.

You can check this by getting the fuel pressure at each injector tested. There are specs for this in the toyota service manual.
