235/75R15's on a Vitara
I have the Old Man Emu suspension on my Vit and am looking to run 235/75R15's on some 15x7 rims. What I want to know is if anybody has run these and will I have any clearance problems. I am going to get it engineered so I can't have any rubbing. What offset will I need, will F100 offset (15x7, -5 ET) work or does it have to be Vitara. Would a bodylift help? Any info appreciated.
OME lift should go pretty close to not rubbing..... if you need more offset go Sierra wheels.
Antt had my 30"s on his Vitara LWB with no rubbing except on the rear wheel arch outer lip - so I'd think that 235"s wouldn't be an issue on the standard offset.
The most likely spot to rub on a near stock vitara would be on the inside of the rear wheel arch.
Too much offset increases the likelihood of rubbing with steering lock with the IFS at the front.

I would die if I saw the rear guards chopping up new muddies, so if anyone with experience could tell me, is it safe to put an aggressive tread straight on?

With stock rim offset they'll rub on the inside rather than chop up on the outside. After that it's trial and error, but if you have say 40mm of lift (2" OME ain't 2") and the tyres is now 28.9" (235/75) versus 26.3" (205/75) then that's a 2.6" bigger tyre.
1/2 of that is on the upside and half is the downside... so 1.3" taller.
1.3" = 33mm give or take.
The tread is also 30mm wider - 1/2 each side so 15mm wider outward.

Nice, thanks beast! I still don't get how you worked that out, but I guess you're just calculating the extra width from each side.
So I have 40mm of room, and the space used is 36mm tread, I have 4mm of free space?

Maybe I should consider 1" coil spacers, and maybe a cheapo 1" bodylift.
Anyone fitting these for cheap? I don't have any tools or the space to do it as I had to move from the farm to an inner city unit

Nope it's 4mm more gap than stock. Your gap between your stock suspension and the tyres hopefully is a little more than 0mm.....

if you decide to get the 235s, see if you can do a deal with them on some 15x7" sunnies or something instead on mounting them on your stocko's.
and the lift ratio for vits is:
FRONT: 1":1.5" (spacer/coil lift:actual lift gained)
REAR: 1":1" (spacers/coil lift proportional to lift gained)
keep us updated. we need more killer Vits.
