GQ front diff centre into GQ rear housing

Post by bowtie landie »

I've heard that, with some minor modifications, a GQ front diff centre can be fitted to a GQ rear housing.

Has anyone performed this conversion & if so what is required?

Any information would be appreciated.

I'm fitting lockers anyway, but I would like to fit a high pinion diff as my rear driveshaft is very short and, with the suspension lift, has too much angle.

The shaft splines are different between the GQ front and rear so no, it wont fit. 31 for front, 33 for rear.

The rear LSD of some Navara will fit the front GQ apparently (no experience, just passing the rumour), so possibly the reverse may apply. Possibly this is what you heard???

In confirmation, ARB list the same part for air lockers for the Front GQ and rear Navara.

Ring and pinon from front diff can swap onto rear diff centre to
convert rear to high pinion.

Down side is ring and pinion are now running in reverse direction.

Well so ive been told.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

I'll leave this option alone. I don't want to go to a weaker diff.

GQ front can go into MK/MQ rear though if I'm not mistaken.
In search of an MQ (offset) H233b rear, housing only preferred, plus a complete GQ or GU front (4.6 ratio ideal) to be shipped to the US. Cheap! Email/PM if you can help.
